Lashmi Gemma Kaur Evaluation Q4
Below shows the video clip in the cinema of the screening. The response seemed to be good, everyone clapped and laughed at Shannon dancing, so I hope the audience liked it.
"When we watched it we felt like we were there" - This made me happy as this is what I wanted my target audience to feel. I wanted them to have fun watching it and it seemed like everyone was interested in watching it.
"If you just tilted the camera a bit lower.. that would have been really good, so you could of got more of the body."
I was happy to see that someone else noticed this, because when my group were filming I kept telling them to put the camera more down, but it never happened. So it was good to see that someone had a mutual opinion with me.
I would have changed my white wall scenes and got more of my body in the shot, as it would have been less boring and more eye catching. I would have brought more glow sticks, alcohol and glow in the dark necklaces, to make the party scenes brighter. I would have not been insecure and danced more for my grade. I would have kicked out all the idiots at the party if I had it my way. I would have put more light into the whole music video and made sure we took the charger, as I didn't know we were allowed to take the chargers with us. I would have got extra footage of me in the party scenes, because watching me through out the whole chorus was a bit repetitive. It would have been nice to see extra footage. I would have put me and Shannon in more outfits, as you only saw one on me, and as i never got a full body shot, it was not even shown. I did wear the outfits I said I was going to wear. They were just not shown... Finally, I would have been more organised in terms of equipment duty I.e not knowing about the charger.
What I did learn from people's comments is that my lip syncing was actually okay. I thought it was terribly bad. However, people said different so I was glad about that. I never thought we got a lot of locations in, but other students said we did, so I was happy to hear that.

Lashmi Gemma Kaur Evaluation Q3
3. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Unable to upload Animatic for some reason......
I used Sites on the internet such as:
YouTube: I used you tube almost everyday because i would need inspiration for my music video. My group and I kept changing our song choice, so we had to constantly be on you tube looking at music videos and searching for the right songs for us.
.jpg)
Vimeo: Vimeo is kind of like You Tube. However, the majority of videos that were posted on there were student made. It was okay to put videos on here and was useful, as we were not allowed to upload our videos onto You Tube or Facebook, unless we had copyright permission. It was also a easy way to access other students work, being interested in what other students ideas and song choices were.

Blogger: Where do I begin? I've been using Blogger for two years now and I'm so sick of it! Blogger was a way to research, plan and produce our music videos and ancillary work, without the confusion of paper work. It was an easy thing to use and it was interesting on how it worked. I loved uploading screen shots, pictures and videos onto Blogger as it was the most easiest thing to do. Blogger was very useful for this course, as it is a well organised site for students to use, i mean could you imagine us blogging on paper? I'd have a huge pile by now. But Blogger was also a good way for our teachers to see our progress, so that was good too.
Prezi: Prezi is kind of like Power point. It;s like a brain storm of information that you make into a short clip. I personally never liked or used prezi.
Google: I was always googling Artists when I was planning and researching, so that I could get more information. Google is the best!
+Google Images: It was always useful. I got my bar code and parental logo from Google images. It was always fun looking at pictures of artists and their digipaks.
Then I used software such as:
Final Cut Pro: I have been using Final Cut Pro for three years now. I have produced a Soap opening, a Thriller and a music video by using it. i have also used final cut pro to make many small videos. I used things such as fades and dissolves frequently. I used soundtrack pro making my thriller. however, this year we just put a song onto the timeline. No Long Ting. I also used live type, but just not this year. Final cut is very useful and the quality of the software is great.
Photoshop: Photoshop was what i created my ancillary work on. It enables me to crop pictures, edit the colours etc. (Coloured in the background)!
Movie Maker: I used movie maker to make home made videos as part of my supplementary blogs.
Photo Bucket: It always confused me so i never used it.
Quark express: Screen Shots: Taking screens shots of my work was my most favourite thing to do on the macs. It was so easy to use, and when i needed to upload quick information onto blogger, all i would need to do is screen grab, and i was good to go.

Hand Brake: Hand Brake was used constantly to change the format of videos. I would have to change the video into an mp4 just so that it could be uploaded onto blogger.
Font case: Font case helped me to decide what font I wanted to use with my ancillary work.
JVC Camera: The most important piece of technology used and remember, it is worth more than my life, because if we broke it and had to pay 3 grand, my life would be over full stop! It was great filming with them. The tripod made it easier to film with, as it helped keep the camera still to get a still clip. But that's not a piece of technology. The JVC had a battery and two slots for the memory cards to fit in. I used Neutral Density filter on the camera, so that there was enough light in the night time and party shots. I switched it on and used the manual focus for each shot. I would zoom in and out to make sure the camera was in focus.
Flip Camera: I was always running around with one of these filming last minute things as part of our group work, when even we needed to update our blog, instead of typing essays, we would just run and get a flip, you never had to hand brake it which was great. all you had to do was plug it in the mac and upload it straight onto blogger.
Still camera: This was always handy to have around for whenever I needed to upload last minute pictures. I would carry it with me when we had to film so that we could take pictures of our filming and talk about them on our blog.

Lashmi Gemma Kaur Evaluation Q2
2. How effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancillary texts (digipak and advertisement?
When I first looked at this question I thought oh my god I have not got a clue. However, as I watched my music video, I looked at my ancillary work and realised there were some similarities between the two pieces that really helped to compliment each other. For example below my advertisement has a similar contrast of lighting in comparison to the music video tower bridge scenes. The outfits in these two pics can also be compared as they both have white bases and then some kind of black print over it, and then stripes on the other one. The white writing on the advertisement matches the white poles in the background of the tower bridge shot. You can see a clear connection between the two.

The comparison I can see here is the S.I.P logo. Its very bold and clear so that the viewers are able to read it and see a connection between the two. The fonts used are not the same however, they both share this bold similarity. The colour scheme between these two do not match. However, the writing is still in capitals and white.

The advertisement says 'No1 single Blind Faith Ft Lil Miss LG'. This not only promotes the artist but it also promotes the artist who was featuring in the music video.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Andrew Goodwin has three theory's about music video's based on the relationship between the song and the video. There is illustration, amplification and Disjuncture. The main theory that my media video represented was Amplification. My video did not have a direct storyline however, the music was edited in time to the video, to show amplification. This also follows vernallis theory about the camera work and the editing all in time with the beat of the music. Below is a clip of the final chorus of our song. the whole idea of me putting it up, was to show the build up of the party scene. Many music videos always have a big build up before they show a party scene such as Pitbull's and Neyo's 'everything tonight.' The video didn't show the party scene straight away, as they wanted to make the audience wait, so that when they saw the party scene, the music would be moving fast with the music and they could show all the conventional motifs that would be used such as alcohol bottles, glasses, reoccurring strobe lights, cameras etc.
The main videos I found inspirational to me was J'lo's 'On the floor', Pitbull's 'Give me everything tonight' and "Skepta's Amnesia." These specific music video's were inspirational for three main reasons.
The editing of JLO on top of the crowd was great. The under layer of the crowd was faint, so that the viewers can see more of JLO. However, the crowd was in the background to show that a lot is going on. This was interesting when we done it for ourselves, as we were able to play with the opacity. The camera movement fit a variety of shots into every scene. Below you can see similar shots of JLO with a crowd behind her. However, they are all taken from different angles, which helps to show of her beauty.
Two shot showing the artists singing with woman next to them, suggesting their high sex appeal.
Eye contact to engage with the audience. With people partying in the background, you are still able to see a clear shot of the artists.
This shot of Neyo shows him spreading his arms out to match the lyrics 'give me everything tonight.' Shannon also done this as he was trying to get the glow stick in the shot and get everyone to hype up and dance.
I wanted our music video to really have that ecstatic party feel vibe, which i got from watching skepta's amnesia. The party feel really allows the audience to make them feel as if they were there. Its young, fun and exciting, clubbing is a popular social activity that allow young people to have fun and let loose, and that is what i really wanted my audience to see. the whole idea of partying and getting drunk is exciting, and by watching this video, really helped me to get an understanding of how i wanted my video to look like.
Wretch 32's album cover, advertisement for his black and white tour, and RWD magazine talk about him. His whole black and white scheme is similar in comparison to mine. However my backgrounds are in black and my text is in white. Although, wretch 32 is a British hip hop artist, I believe he is capable of crossing over to grime. Although, wretch 32 falls under hip hop, Tinie Tempah has crossed over as a hip hop, electro and grime artists, and Kano has crossed over from grime to main stream, suggesting Wretch 32's high capability of crossing over too. Both kano and tinie tempah have a similar and simple album cover. It has their faces, name and album name. The colour schemes on all three album covers are similar in comparison to my digipak. an example of a hip hop film that was
filmed in all black and white was Snoop Dog's 'Drop it like it's hot.

Following vernallis theory, this was not done intentionally. However, we did use some phantasmagorical body shots in our music video. It does not really look like I'm wearing anything on the top half of my body either than a bra. However, there was skin showing. Also, us dancing on chairs was not intentional, we just done this so that we could get a low angle shot of us dancing, but didn't really go that way. So we worked with what we had.

Comparisons with JLO's music vid.
| These two shots can be compared through the hand gestures, the same close up shot and the faded crowd dancing in the background. I particularly like this shot as you can see the artists facial expressions. |

Party scenes compared to get that ecstatic vibe. Allows the audience to make them feel as if they were there.
The majority of Skepta's amnesia was inspirational because of the structure of the video. There was a clear use of tracking of Skepta. I really liked the location shots of skepta, it helped to promote his whole genre of music in my opinion, as he does many party scenes in the majority of his videos.
Above you can see a clear shot of skepta promoting his name in his music video. We also followed this and put S.I.P in our music video, as we wanted to promote our artist as much as we can.
Here our the location shots that both our music videos have in comparison with each other. I feel this is important to put in as we want our target audience to know the location of where we are. skepta clearly shows that he is in Ibiza. whereas, we clearly show that we our on Tower bridge, which is famously known to be located in London.
Shots of artists that promote them, but also show a bright background to keep the audience interested.

These mid shots of the Artists once again show them at a balcony view. Skepta is on his balcony. Whereas, shannon is on Tower bridge. These two locations allow both artists access of a view of their located cities filmed in.
My digipak is conventional to these artists, as they all come under the same genre of music. My digipak has a black and white colour scheme. I felt that this follows conventions as some grime/ hip hop videos are filmed in black and white. It is very creative in my opinion. My ancillary work did not really relate to my music video as much as it could of. My printed products have a dark colour scheme. However, my music video also has a dark colour scheme to it as it was filmed at night. I can relate my digipak to other artists digipaks such as wretch 32, Kano and Tinie Tempah.
filmed in all black and white was Snoop Dog's 'Drop it like it's hot.
