How powerful is the Media?

Long story short, today i went MacDonald's with my brother and he never eat nothing. I was like "why are you not eating?" he was like "because McDs is crap food." Excuse my language. So we had a talk about why McD's has not been shut down then, as we have all heard gruesome stories about it. As McD's is the biggest company in the world, they have too much money and the best lawyers to get out of pretty much anything. Whilst having this discussion it just made me realize how powerful the media actually is. Its the biggest company in the world and the food is rubbish. However, it has not been shut down. It just goes to show they can get out of anything just by having money.

As you can see the calories on this are clearly delusional!
Thankyou for reading.
I heard some crazy stuff about McDs today, so im scared for life!

Some random planning in class

So in our three hour lesson we were supposed to be listening to Dan talking to us about mood boards. However we were just so excited that we starting planning straight away :) This is us planning the basics.

  • The Location- Shannon's House
  • Where going for Amplification
  • Want a party feel
  • The props we would need
  • Some shots we thought of just in case we forget
  • Costumes- By saying 'Sluts', we mean Heels and dresses LOL : D
  • Lastly who we need

Our storyboard we done in class to "5 years time"

In one of our lessons me and my group done this story board to the song "5 years time" by Noah and the Whale. Our story was about an ice cream van being chased by people of all ages through the sites of London. We pitched it too the class and Rebecca like our idea. It was loads of fun pitching our idea to the class and drawing up our storyboard.

Summary of theory from Carol Vernallis

Carol Vernallis tells us that the usual rules of TV drama and film are broken in the world of music videos. There is no continuity editing, the edits draw attention to themselves to keep the audience interested. Jump cuts are usually used. She also metions the use of master shots and the camera may move in time with the music.

Examples of this are Sean Kingston Letting Go & Ed Sheeran You need me i don't need you

Shortlist Of Potential song choices

The Three songs my group and i chose were:

Blind Faith- Chase and Status

Louder- DJ Fresh

Amnesia- Skepta

As a group we wrote down all the pro's and con's of the songs that we were deciding to do. We though Louder would be compared on a big scale as the video was such a hit but was so simple. Blind faith was too long as it was over three minutes. So we decided Skeptas amnesia would be the most convenient song to do and people who are fans of skepta would be interested in what we would do for the video.

Skills audit How i think my resarch skills have improved

I think my skills have improved a lot. Now its easier for me to pick out things to research because its feels like im using the skills I learnt from AS (Blogging Skills Research Skills). It feels like a progression from last year obviously and I think I have improved along with the difficulty. I'm also trying to write consisely in my blogs. So im using some skills from other lessons in this lessons to show some improvement.

Summary of what we have learnt about the music industry in 2012

In our morning lessons with Dan we learnt that the music industry sales were down 7% in the Uk and 10% in the US and the music industry has roughly halved in size since 2000 where albums could sell 10million copies. record and Cd shops that used to make the most off selling albums and singles went into administration for exampple; Woolworths & Zavvi has caused problems for HMV that still exist as a retail store out of the three. Only Band Like Take That can sell large quantity of CD's because they have a older audience that dont download songs online. Radiohead had a smart idea with there honesty box approach. There are also subscription site where you join and donate money to carry on your subscription to and all-you-can-listen-to service. This site is called spotify. Ellie Goulding also got sponsorship from nike to remix her album to encourageselected fans to run with her in different cities. These days Artists have to promote themselves on youtube in order to to sell tickets for tours.
