digipaks, adverts of past work good & bad

Good Digipak

Alright digipak but the colour scheme hurts my eyes

Two great Advertisements

This is the level im aiming for

Previous Ancillary Work

I really like this work from previous students, they have kept the cover simple but effective with all the right information on it. Faded pictures and the artist name 'Amy Lee' in her own font create a strong image of who their artist is.

For the inside they have used stills from their music video really well, creating a mysterious female effect to the artist that matches the cover, and suits their artist perfectly.

Their advertisement is also amazing! Yet again using one simple faded picture and the artist name in the pretty font to show the artist's image. Keeping the writing clear and uncluttered makes the miniamall information that is there stand out, making it more noticeable for people to read. All in all I think this group have created some great work making their music video, digipak and poster all create the same strong image of who their artist is, and selling her really well!

Summary of class discussion

What is the function of a Digipak

To promote & advertise the artists to their audience, to give them a memory of your album with added content

Why are digipaks still used despite CD sales dropping

Despite sales dropping loyal fans still purchase CD that are worth the money because of booklets and artwork

How important are the ancillary products (digipaks, advertisements) to the artist and the industry?

It hold a place in the audiences memory, like a collectors item, it's very important for a new artist that wants to stand out and stay in the memory of their fans. Also It gives more of a personal feel sometimes because the fan feels like they have something that you created and made special yourself

Digipak (Dan It's my time)

Doesn't he look purrrrty looool

Research For Ancillary Products : Teachers Example Of Bad Digipak And Advert

Examining Previous Ancillary Work

In todays lesson we where looking at pervious students work, seeing what worked well, what didn't, and what we could learn from them.

Research For Ancillary Products : Previous Student Analysis

Today, in class we were looking at digipaks and advertisements from the previous years, here is one that has good and bad flaw.

The front of the digipak picture is very simple with the font below the face which is quite effective because it is not covering the face. The back of the digipak is also simple with a similar font which it show connection between them, however a flaw is that the bar code and the production label company and all the other bit and bob are quite squash together which it seem odd. Another flaw is that when you look inside the total colour scheme and layout is differ from the front and back digipak. Furthermore, in the advertisement the same repetitive colour scheme is the same which show it is linked together.

I think this advert and digipak look really professional because the picture that is used here is very simple but effective at the same time. The uses of the colour scheme emphasis the artist and the genre of the music. The font is quite simple and very easy to read.  They have included everything such as the production label, name of the artist ( big and bold ) and the album and the bar code and it is arranged that enhances so that it look professional. This has given our group some inspiration that for our digipak and advert it should be simple but very effective to catch the audience attention.
