My digipak so far on 12/12/11

Just after Thursday lesson, we made Shannon have a quick photoshot, I had in my head what photos i needed to get for my digipak

These pictures are the ones i plan on using for the inside panels of my digipak:

In todays lesson I was using Fontcase, to look for different ideas on fonts to use for the ancillary products.

Fontcase has loads and loads of different fonts :D. I looked for ones that where quite bold and easy to read but also with a graffiti look as this would fit in with the Dubstep genre.

This is my inside panel showing shannon on a DJ mix... i know it looks like a bin but its a DJ mixer. The CD will be black with S.I.P written on it in white writing.

The advert will have a picture of shannon on it. The writing will be used in the alexandria font. It will go above his head. then next to him will be things like 'Number 1 album' etc.

I plan to use one of the following pictures.

I added this picture in below as a replacement of a picture that I want on my inside panel. I'm going to take pics of shannon in the music tech room to take pictures on the music equipment to make it look like hes producing. I want to get a similar picture to this. So I felt I should upload it even though its not my picture that I took. 

Do's and Dont's!

The Never's-

Never unnecessary effects as this could spoil a digipak and make it too over empowering.
Never over use photos to cover up space on each panel. some space is good space, it makes it clear and presentable.
Never put writing across the artists face, as this ruins the whole point of making a digipak.
Never stretch images, because it ruins the quality of the photo and makes the picture look uneven.
Finally, never use a silly font. why? because it's silly and no one can read it.


The DO's! :)


Always use  a simple font
a perfect picture and font size
Follow genre conventions
Follow the 3 colour rule scheme.
Make sure something is there to link it back to the company logo. The copyright for example.
People will be buying this CD, put a bar code on the thing.
Lastly and simply, Be Creative!
