Q4 Evaluation What Have You Learned From Your Audience Feedback?

I had learned a lot from our feedback of the music video and digipak. You can tell the reaction that the audience gave us from the clip which is being recorded while our music video is being played. Our fellow group member Isla has kindly putted up some of our audience feedback outside the cinema, we can see that the video was enjoyable.

The different elements that our narrator which is our artist (S.I.P) conveyed to the target audience were totally understood and highly appreciated. The party scene were said to be realistic (this was a problem because we were most worried about and it seem from the audience feedback we was happy that the problem was solved). The pace editing shots, and jump cuts were said to be quite interesting and this was a definitely key convention of our genre type but in order to capture an audiences attention well we were happy that we achieve that. Micky even said that he like the editing and seems quite surprised that we even pulled it of so well and this message is to Micky and the technician we say (thanks for giving us the tutorial and the feedback).

From the constructive criticism side we was told that we needed to vary our shots and there were too many medium shots. We also tried doing close up during our verses but however during it whilst while filming Isla kept on bumping and walking into billboard and notice board and sign which was very difficult because she had to walk backwards (no eyes behind our head) and when we almost succeed it kept on going out of focus. Lashmi's lip syncing was amazingly good (I always believe in her).
The picture below is from vimeo which shows how many people view the video, I believe there was more views but I'm not really sure if facebook would let us see how much views was there. Overall our music video felt like a success.

For my digipak I felt that i could have been improved much more but however in contrast to my music video it was recognised thankfully, and I was relieved that my audience noted that it would highly promotes the artist and make a great début for the artist instead of being a great disaster that draw the audience away from the artist.

What I've learnt is that we need to include much more variety of shots, angles and steady lighting, even better planning so we can make our work feel like a much more professional and top quality work, and I need a better knowledge of understanding of Photoshop in order to be able to make better impression with my poster. I've also learnt that using lots of shots, edits, transitions and locations can grab the audience attention better.

I think I've recieved a good reaction from my work with the digipak and our music video and our work as a group and I am extremely happy about it. I would like to thanks the audience and thanks Group 23 for sticking together almost 3 years.

Lashmi Gemma Kaur Evaluation Q4

Below shows the video clip in the cinema of the screening. The response seemed to be good, everyone clapped and laughed at Shannon dancing, so I hope the audience liked it.

"When we watched it we felt like we were there" - This made me happy as this is what I wanted my target audience to feel. I wanted them to have fun watching it and it seemed like everyone was interested in watching it.

"If you just tilted the camera a bit lower.. that would have been really good, so you could of got more of the body."
I was happy to see that someone else noticed this, because when my group were filming I kept telling them to put the camera more down, but it never happened. So it was good to see that someone had a mutual opinion with me.

I would have changed my white wall scenes and got more of my body in the shot, as it would have been less boring and more eye catching. I would have brought more glow sticks, alcohol and glow in the dark necklaces, to make the party scenes brighter. I would have not been insecure and danced more for my grade. I would have kicked out all the idiots at the party if I had it my way. I would have put more light into the whole music video and made sure we took the charger, as I didn't know we were allowed to take the chargers with us. I would have got extra footage of me in the party scenes, because watching me through out the whole chorus was a bit repetitive.  It would have been nice to see extra footage. I would have put me and Shannon in more outfits, as you only saw one on me, and as i never got a full body shot, it was not even shown. I did wear the outfits I said I was going to wear. They were just not shown... Finally, I would have been more organised in terms of equipment duty I.e not knowing about the charger.
What I did learn from people's comments is that my lip syncing was actually okay. I thought it was terribly bad. However, people said different so I was glad about that. I never thought we got a lot of locations in, but other students said we did, so I was happy to hear that.

Q4 Evaluation What Have You Learned From Your Audience Feedback?

I think I learned a lot from our feedback of the music video and digipack, the reaction to our music video which has been kindly put up by fellow group member Isla along with out audience feedback outside the cinema,  we can see that the video was enjoyable. The different elements that our narrater (artist) conveyed to our target audience were mostly understood and highly appreciated. The party scene were said to be realisitc (this is a problem we were worried about and we are happy that we have audience feedback to show we solved the problem) The edits opacity shots, and jump cuts were said to be very entertaining and obviously this is a key convention of music videos in order to capture an audiences attention so we are happy we did that. Micky also really like the editing and seems suprised we pulled it of so well and to Micky we say (all we need is is the tutorial from the the teachers and you and Marisa and leave the rest up to creativity, oh and thanks for the feedback) We were also told (on the constructive critism side) that we needed to vary our shots and there were too many medium shots, this was something we tried to incoporate during our verses however it was very difficult to track and stay close up without going out of focus or Isla bumping into things like shopboards or railings (a highlight of filming I must add). Lashmi's lipsinking was highly glorified (Go Lashmi!!!) The audience feedback video 7 needs to be watched because I cannot describe them, absolutely hilarious with there feedback but much appreciated. The picture from vimeo shows how many people view the video, I'm sure there were more views but im not aware if the viewcount is visable when the video is played via facebook. Overall our music video felt like a success.

My digipack I felt could have been improved however parallels to my music video were recognised thankfully, and I was relieved that my audience noted that it highly promotes the artist and makes the artist the centrepiece instead of featured around artwork and different designs that can draw the audience away from the artist.

What I've learnt is that we need to include more variety of shots, angles and steady lighting, even better planning so we compensate for any mishaps, and I clearer knowledge of Photoshop in order to be able to make more of an impression with my poster. I've also learnt (on th positive side) that using lots of shots, edits, transistions and locations captivate an audience. Using amplification can apply more to Teenagers than adults (unless we're talking about video's from Take That, they have amazing videos for all ages) and using your creativity to the highest degree alongside planning pays off

I think I've gotten a good reaction from my work with the digipack and our work as a group and I am extremely chuffed about it.  Thank you audience and thank you Group 23

Q.2 How effective is the combination of your main product (video and ancillary text (digipak and advertisement)?

The combination of my main product and my ancillary work blended in some places but I did want some individuality to separate it slightly. It occurred to me that any artist that brings out an album has elements that apply to other songs as well as a song that may have a music video. I wanted to keep that in mind for Poster also.  However there are still slight element from my music video despite being hard to spot.

In these beginning captions you can see that my digipack on the left hand side kept with the colour scheme in the first verse (brown black and a light contrast) You can see this contrast is maintained throughout my digipack. I used the picture to furthest to the left and side in my CD section and used the opacity to make it fade into the brown background.
This was an outfit featured in both the video and digipack.

As you can see The Lamp-post shot
was reused to attracted attention and
familiarity from video to digipack.
It also works with the contrast of colours. Again the colours of the shirt and the tie stay within the overall colour scheme

The relation between these two shots are that we used the simple use of a white wall to bring more attention to the artist. I contradicted the colour scheme with the change to brighter colours. I thought the contrast would pose as a change visual and help the artist to stand out. to alert the contrast I also feature the front cover in the advert. I kept the same font to keep continuity in other areas. Here Lashmi is also being promoted as a featuring artist in the song and the best way to make her stand out is against a white wall in order to attract more visual attention.

I took two english artist and looked at their front cover scheme, Skepta and Jessie J.  This was my inspiration for mainting the colour scheme within clothing and contrasts. wretch 32 poster is something that caught my eye because apart from the effect on his hand (which i didnt know how to recreated) but it portrayed him very well. This is what I wanted to immitate in my own Poster
