Production : Filming On 24/10/11

On Monday the 24/10/11, we went to Shannon house around 4pm to move all the expensive stuff such as glass table, vases, chairs, tv, etc. We had to make sure noone mess about because we only invited the people we trusted most and was willingly will help with our music video.  So our guest arrived quite early so therefore we decided to film Lashmi on the white wall singing the chorus. Lashmi did very well i believe. Isla, our camerawoman was doing her amazing filming trying to capture all the different angle shots. Shannon was like a hyper ninja who never stood still for a second because we was filming at his house, so he had to make sure everything was in place and dealing with the immature behaviour from certain people. And for me, during the party we was shortage on people i had to bring alot of people to come and help us out at like 10pm at night, i was like entertaining the guest and keeping thing calm and buying the alcohol.
I can't lie filming the house party is alot of work and stress because at first noone wanted to dance alone so we had to lead them in by taking the first step. After the party we stayed there and help Shannon move everything back to place and clean up the house. Thanks to Chloe ( previous media student ), Kenny & Sieg our dancers, and many of my people who came and help out ( i can't be bother to list them all ) and mainly thanks to Group 23 for all being there and helping each other out.

Production : Sample Clips Of Our Dancers

Basically our group wanted different type of dancers, so i had to bring my dancers to the house party to vary the dance during filming. Thanks to Kenny and Sieg for coming to help us out.

Today's filming on 26th Oct 2011

Today we are going to be filming our outside scenes which will be in the locations of Camden Passage Islington
London Bridge and Old Street, Shorditch. Hope it goes well now excuse me while I learn my Lyircs :)

Synopsis of filming on monday

We filmed our house party scene on Monday for our music video. Our guest arrived early so we did our white wall scene which involved Lashmi. She did so well (Proud father voice) Isla, our star camerawoman was doing her thing filming everyone in different angles using handheld (that's My Isla lol). Viet got a little tiny bit stressed because he wanted things to go well, but he did his thing by bring more of his recruits (From Viets army) and helping with buying drinks keeping things calm and moving and entertaining guests. (Well done my right hand man).
As for me, I felt like the Duracell bunny having to run around my house, checking everything was ok, handling some foolishness with my motivational speaking skills, getting people to dance with the help of my group, keeping the group calm and take care of my house also with the help of my group. A special thank you has to go out to the rest of the members of group 23 for helping me set up and clean up they were amazing. Plus a thank you also has to go to a previous student (Chloe Slade) for her exceptional help with the party in all areas as well as Ka-Miller Reid, Jonathan Bentill, Amakka Morgan and Savannah Leighton John (Shannon's Second family) for their help in matters with and after the party.

Blind Faith- Chase and Status Lyrics

Pitch Feedback

Original Artists website

This is the Chase and Status official home page. As part of the Artists promotion, they show several things such as picture and video's from their gigs and show many times and ticket prices available to the public. They share their latest news, it is as if this is their own personal blog that they are sharing with their target audience. They also show venue's of where they are going to perform next. They give information about their kind of music and give contact details to the readers.
They also share links to their Youtube/Facebook/Twitter and Myspace pages.
They also have their own line of clothes and accessories.  This is clothes that help promote their image. Showing the audience what kind of Artists they are.

You can see from the photo's and video's on the site that their audience is directed towards clubbers and ravers, as their music is Dubstep and Drum and Bass.

Isla Vs Lash

As you know, this year the labels have been changed, so the more blogs you do the bigger your names become. As you can see here mine and Isla's names our the biggest. This is strictly because we have become competitive, as we are constantly battling to get our names bigger than each others. Meaning more blogs get done. We feel this was a very good change the teachers have made this year. As it has pushed us to work harder.

Lashmi: As you can see i'm wiping the floor with Isla.

However,

Isla: Yes! but i'm gonna kick your ass in the end!!

Today our teacher told us that our animatic was good. But for our party scene we have to plan careful or else we will end up with wonky footage and clip that we are unable to use. So therefore i thought we should like try out some of the shot and footage before the actual filming to see how it look like and how clear we will want to have it. Also the teacher told us that we should have the first couple scene in black and white to show depression until the beat of the music drop in and that when the video should be in colour so that it show the happy mood.

Planning : Examine The Website For The Original Artist

Here is a screen shot of the home page of Chase & Status website

Above in the picture on the homepage, there are tab bar for the viewers and fan to click on them to follow them and watch more of their videos or their twitting site.

The artist also allow the fans to win tickets to go see them by entering a competition on the site.

At the side of the homepage is a list of upcoming tour dates. Straight away it capture the fans eyes and encourage people to go see them live. As we know, with the state of the music industry now, being corrupted artist need to go on tour to make back their money from making music. The news feed also encourages people to go to their gigs, with links to the tour videos, and also mentions of awards. For example they have been nominated for 2 festival awards 'Best Headline Performance' and 'Anthem Of The Summer'. I believe that it will draw in more fans.

Their logo brand is a picture of a bulldog on a crown.

Above are the news currently updated for the fans to see. There are such Apps for your phone, Awards, Other music festival and radio shows.

On the website it also allow the fans to buy their stuff and album and many other stuff too.

Below are some picture that I gotten from their website of their gigs and shows :

When you go on the site, there is a small video box which automatically play their music video in a mix playlist with adverts for their products. There are links below this video which also let you view more videos

Planning : How Our Music Video Will Differ From The Original

We have analysed the video and came up with an idea of how to emulate the spirit of Drum n Bass and UKG within our video by creating a party scene. The lyric start off with a man singing "I am a man with a heavy heart" we will use this line as  illustration to our video because it fits with the idea of mixed emotion. overall we shall use the chorus to show the way music can cast away your emotion and help you have "mindless fun". This shows the idea of both happiness from the experience of music and sadness and longing of that feeling you get when you become one with the music

Planning : Analysis Of The Original Video

This Song uses conventions that make it seem as if its a home video instead of a music video. This makes the visual slightly less appealing however you can still be captivated by the editing and the music. the original video is almost a counter example because it doesn't promote the artist or brand. it is promoting historical time of warehouse parties in the 80's and 90's

Planning : Analysis 3 Music Video That Influence Me

Pitbull - Give Me Everything
This video influence me because for our video we would like a party scene like this where people dance in the back ground and the artist stand in front and sing.

Drake - Over
I chose this video because of the editing because it over lay picture with other picture and it has the uses of the green screen which look nice but at first i didn't like the idea of green screen whereas when i watched this it changed the my mind.
Here an example of the editing they used :

Chase & Status Featuring Plan B - Pieces
The main reason why i chose this video because it is different to other videos. We like the 'Party' scene which we like how it was filmed, by using a hand held camera in the style of a home video, it is very shakey and has fast paced editing, to emphasis the chaos of the moment.

Planing For the Party Scene

For one of the locations, we want to go for a house party theme. To do this we obviously need to recreate a house party. This is where Facebook comes in. We created an event, letting people know we need extras for shots in our music video. We then invited people who we feel are reliable, and told them to dress nice! Along with the date and time of the event.

Analysis of 3 Music video's that influenced me

A video that inspired me was J-LO's On The Floor Ft Pitbull-

I particularly liked this video because of the lighting and the editing. The video shows use of loads of different edits. One particular edit i liked that Shannon pointed out in our pitch was this shot below, where you can see the background through J-LO.

I liked the lighting in the film and the colour. The colours were extravagant and the costumes were really bright and out there.

The second video that influenced me was A Thousand Miles By Vanessa Carlton because her whole video is so simple. The whole video is tracking her as she passes several different locations. This film inspired me mainly because of how simple the video was and how many locations she managed to fit it and still it was a really good and effective way of creating a music video.

Starts off in her garage.
Goes onto the quiet street
Close up of Piano
Medium shot of her face
Located on a motorway
Then in the desert
Then on the motorway with a forest surrounding.
she's got the city in the background suggesting she's getting closer to it.
Then in the city
Then on a Bridge
Then on a beach
The first close up shot to capture the emotion.
Then infront of a building site
Low angle shot of her in the big city.
Then on her way home as its getting dark.
The beginning of the song becomes the end of the song. She ends up in the same location where she was in the morning, Which was her garage.

My third video to influence me was Give me Everything, as this is the party feel we are going for. Also, because there are certain shots in the video that we want to use in our's.
