Analysis Of Original Video

This is the original music video for our finale song choice, Blind Faith by Chase and Status:

This video goes against all traditional conventions of music videos. They have basically just edited together some old footage of illegal warehouse party's in the 80's. I still love this video tho! They weren't trying to make an amazing conventional video. They where trying to document an historical movement, capturing the time and emotions of the party's.

It reminds me of some work from Neville & Gavin Watson, photographers who looked at the rave scene in 1989. Here are some pics from their book, raving 89:

1989 was the year it all changed, when ravin took the nation by storm and british dance culture exploded. Chase and Status really captured this in there video, being dance music DJ's this year would be real important to them as with out it, they my not exsicted today!

Our video will be very different! We will be making a quite traditional music video, following conventional camerawork and editing. Our Mis en scene will also be much more moden, with stylish outfits and different locations. There are a few similarities such as our party scene and the close up of people dancing, However all in all the two video will look compeletly different!
