Andrew Goodwin's Narrative analysis is that there are Pop video's that use Illustration- where the story tells the lyrics, Amplication- when the video introduces new meanings that do not condratict with the lyrics but add layers of meanings. Disjuncture- where there is little connection between lyrics and video or the lyrics contradict the lyrics. Here are Video's that represent these three feature:
This is LL Cool J - Hush I think this is an illustrative video because he is describing how he's felt for this girl ever since he has been in his teens. He relates specific lyrics to an action in the clip on more than one occasion. This is the practicality of Goodwins theory
This video is Missy Elliot 'Get your freak on'. This is my example of amplification. There is a lot of dancing, close ups of the lead artist missy Elliot saying her lyrics and brief references to her lyrics in other actions on the screen e.g "Quiet hush your mouth sound is when I spit it out..."
Finally, This video is Usher Caught Up. i think this song displays Goodwin theory of disjuncture because Usher has done a video where he is in a gang that tries to win back a girl from his rival mobsters. It doesn't really have anything to do with the song lyrics however it does make for an entertaining video
