The function of a music video isn't to only promote the artist but to sell the artist.This works because it doesn't just promote one song by the artist, but it can promotes the whole albums which are already released or ones that are the upcoming new releases.

Some music videos have even been lengthened into short films in which the artist specifically promotes themselves rather than the song, seeing as there is no music for a short period of time, only acting.
